Dean of the Pohnpei Extension School
Scott Shanahan is a graduate of Memphis School of Preaching and his wife Rebecca is the daughter of a gospel preacher. Together they mark a remarkable team as the only American missionaries for the church in the Micronesian Islands.
During their time on the Island of Pohnpei they have master the local language and have become an integral part of the community. They have established a WBI Extension school in Pohnpei with two campuses. The southern campus is made up of mostly members of the church. Leadership training and a focus on evangelism is a vital part of the program there.
However, the northern campus is primarily made up of non-Christians and is being used as an effective outreach ministry. Together the two campuses total about 50 students. The school on the Island of Kosrae is much smaller and serves as an outreach tool as well.
There were no Christians on that Island until Scott and Rebecca started the school and began teaching the gospel. The work on Kosrae is challenging but they have had positive results as some have obeyed the gospel. Scott and Rebecca have also been instrumental in raising funds for a new church building and an eight passenger van. Several have obeyed the gospel and the church continues to grow.
The school is serving to help develop leadership among the men and strengthen the faith of the women.
